WELCOME TO VACAVILLE – THE PERFECT FAMILY TRAVEL DESTINATION

Traveling in and around Northern California? Uncover the hidden gems in Vacaville that visitors are just now beginning to discover. Our central location, affordability and numerous family activities are the reason why 61% of our visitors return to the city to visit, shop, stay and play!

Incorporated in 1892, Vacaville is in northern Solano County, midway between San Francisco and Sacramento. In 2005, Relocate America rated Vacaville as one of “America’s Top 100 Places to Live.” So it’s no coincidence that leading biotech firms like, Alza, Chiron Corp, and Genentech have also made Vacaville home. (When completed in 2009, Genentech’s current facility expansion will make it the largest biotechnology manufacturing plant in the world.)

A rich, cultural heritage combined with a vision for the future gives Vacaville the quintessential fusion of prosperity entwined with our past. What better way to celebrate our orchard heritage than to pay tribute to Mariani Packing Company. This year marks the 100th anniversary of this family owned- and-operated company which has grown, dried, processed and packaged the finest and freshest dried fruit and ingredient products shipped around the country and the world.

Summer FunDespite our exponential growth,
Vacaville remains a safe and friendly city with its citizenry dedicated to keeping Vacaville a small town at heart, as evident in the renaissance of our Historic Downtown. Stroll the tree-lined streets and meander along CreekWalk through Andrews Park or relish the exquisite architecture of the Buck Mansion and other Victorian homes along Buck Avenue. The new Town Square attracts visitors and residents alike to enjoy the ambiance of quaint shops, ornate buildings, and superb dining experiences.

The long awaited return of Vacaville’s most beloved landmark, the Nut Tree, is expected to open later this summer. What began as a roadside fruit stand in 1921, the Nut Tree expanded into a world-renowned restaurant and destination that played host to presidents, celebrities, astronauts and even royalty. The redevelopment of this 80-acre project will include the Nut Tree Village which will offer a plethora of dining and shopping venues, and the Nut Tree Family Park, where families can experience the original train and ride replicas of the famous Nut Tree Hobby Horses.

At the center of the Nut Tree Family Park is the original, recently relocated, Harbison House which was built in 1907. When opened to the public, visitors will be able to take a stroll down memory lane viewing memorabilia about the history of the Nut Tree and California.

Vacaville is alive with performing and visual arts. Our focus this season is the Vacaville Performing Arts Theatre which presents nearly 200 performances each year including the San Francisco Comedy Competition, Solano Community Symphony, Vacaville Ballet Theatre Company and the Solano Choral Society, just to name a few.

Our ideal Mediterranean climate offers visitors abundant recreational opportunities to explore the beauty and wildlife that abound in the area. Hike the Lagoon Valley for a little exercise and a bird's-eye view of the city and beyond!

We’re only a short drive from the Golden Gates of San Francisco, the wine country in Napa and Sonoma, our historic capitol in Sacramento and the spectacular Sierra mountain range in Lake Tahoe. Whether you’re coming for a night or planning an extended visit, our city’s ideal location and hidden gems make it the perfect family travel destination!

Welcome to Vacaville and enjoy your stay!
