TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE

Travis Air Force Base Travis AFB is the home of the 60th Air Mobility Wing, 15th Expeditionary Mobility Task Force and 349th Air Mobility Wing with over 14,800 active duty, reservists and civilian employees assigned.

The 60th Air Mobility Wing is the largest air mobility organization in the Air Force with a versatile all-jet fleet of 30 C-5 Galaxy cargo and 27 KC-10 Extender refueling aircraft. The 60th controls more than $11 billion in total resources, including 6,383 acres and 1,720 buildings, and handles more cargo and passengers than any other military air terminal in the U.S.!

Part of the Air Mobility Command and Eighteenth Air Force at Scott AFB in Illinois, the unit's primary role is to provide rapid, reliable airlift of American fighting forces anywhere on earth and to extend the reach of American and allied air power through mid-air refueling.

Also located on base are the David Grant USAF Medical Center, the second largest Medical Treatment Facility in the continental U.S., and the Travis Air Museum, one of the few remaining aviation museums without entrance fees. Ninety-five percent of the museum's operating budget comes from aviation enthusiasts who donate regularly to help keep the doors open. The Museum's purpose is to portray the history of Travis Air Force Base's contribution to the development of airlift in the Pacific. Travis Air Force Base
